Duménil are specialists in vintage champagnes. The meticulous selection of frut and their belief in long ageing on the lees for the greatest expression of the year shines through with every release. Only produced in years they feel meet their standards, creating brilliant wines in years where some other producers have faltered. (2005 & 2007 were great examples).
The 2008 shows pronounced white floral notes, toast, and grilled nuts leading to a full-bodied, rich palate balanced by vibrant mineral acidity. Multi-layered and weighty yet retaining elegance and finesse. The wine has spent an extended period on the yeast lees (10 + years) for added complexity. A classic example of the 2008 vintage whereas it drinks wonderfully right now but has the structure and depth to evolve for many years to come.
A blend of 60% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir & 20% Meunier from the premier cru villages of Chigny-les Roses, Rilly-la Montagne & Ludes (Montagne des Reims) 5gm/ltr dosage
Disgorged July 2019
