2 x Grongnet Blanc de Noirs NV

Displaying bright red fruits, fresh brioche, pastry notes, the palate is round and full with a creamy texture.but there is a fine core of mineral acidity keeping the palate clean and wanting more. The choice of vinification in stainless steel and not undergoing malolactic fermentation has given a freshness and lift, avoiding the heaviness that some Blanc de Noirs can display. Pinot Noir provides the juicy, rich, dark fruits on the front palate while the Meunier gives flesh and body which builds and grows in the glass. An excellent Blanc de Noirs!

50% Pinot Noir & 50% Meunier from their home vineyards in Etoges, average vine age is 30 years. Base wine is 2018 with 20% reserves. Fermentation is in stainless steel, no malolactic fermentation with a dosage of 8g/l

2 x Grongnet 'Carpe Diem' NV

‘Seize the Day’: rather an apt title for this very special cuvée from Grongnet. It is a blend of 55% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier, and 5% of the 'ancient' varieties Petit Meslier, Arbanne and Fromenteau with all fruit sourced from their vineyards in the village of Etoges. Barrel fermented and matured in large oak foudres (much like Krug, Selosse and Jacquesson). This maturation gives an added depth and complexity and the wines do not go through malolactic fermentation. Possessing multi-layered, complex spicy flavours, it is rich and full on the palate but beautifully balanced by a spine of refreshing acidity. Very classy.

Base wine is 2015 with 20% reserves. Dosage 8g/l

2 x Grongnet Special Club 2015

Pale, white gold in colour with an ultra-fine bead. The initial aromas offer up juicy, granny-smith apples with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and spice notes. As it opens in the glass the Pinot provides complex layers of brioche, almond and fresh pastries while the Chardonnay gives an etheral citrus freshness and brightness.Still so youthful with many years ahead but a sheer delight at present, from the wonderful 2015 vintage - this is everything a 'Special Club' release should represent. Class.

45% Chardonnay (vinification in 27% stainless, 18% foudre), 55% Pinot Noir (vinification in 43% stainless, 12% foudre) 100% from their home vineyards in Etoge with 7 g/l dosage
