Produced from their best plots, the wine has a mouth-filling textural quality and richness, backed by refreshing mineral acidity. 2008 was a wonderful vintage of structure and balance, producing wines that give immense pleasure now but have the ability to age for many years to come. Displaying lifted white floral notes, with honeyed, grilled nuts and spice overlays. (Interesting to note that the first Chardonnay vines for the family domain were planted by José himself back in 1958!)
A generous blanc de blancs for the energetic 2008 vintage, layered with caramel and roast nuts, true to José’s more oxidative winemaking style, though in no way oxidised or tired. This makes for an immediately approachable style ready to drink right away, gently supported by soft chalk minerality and rounded, integrated acidity on a long finish. 90pts Tyson Stelzer 'Champagne Guide 2020-2021'
