100% Chardonnay from their oldest vines in the grand cru of Chouilly. The selection of fruit for their flagship release is always the finest and the care and attention paid to detail ensures that is is of a 'Special Club' release standard. Critics can often make sweeping generalisations of vintages and certainly 2011 was a difficult year. However, the reputation of producer is always more important than year, and this is a great example of where the pursuit of quality has overcome adversity. Pristine fruit balanced by refreshing mineral acidity with depth of character and style. Only a very small production and a credit to the care that Champion family give to their wines.
Produced from old vines in the Grand Cru vineyards of Chouilly in the Côte des Blancs, this is a beautifully crisp, ripe wine, showing taut fruit and fine, stylish acidity. As a Special Club bottling, it adheres to stringent qualitative guidelines set out by an elite group of growers. Still young, it will be best from 2019. - 94pts Wine Enthusiast
