100% Chardonnay from the Grand Cru village of Aÿ. A rarity from a Grand Cru that is renowned for its Pinot Noir. When the Chiquet family started to expand their vineyard holdings in the 1950's, they acquired parcels of Aÿ Chardonnay that had been planted back in the thirties. The Chiquet family achieved fame as the first to produce a Blanc de Blanc from this distinguished Grand Cru.
Lifted, toasty aromatics with overlays of baked brioche and pastry notes. Explosive on the palate, possessing powerful texture and weight, yet remains refined. Complex and multi-layered, revealing more and more with every sip. Aÿ Chardonnay is very different to examples from the Cotes des Blancs, very expressive with a wonderful balance of ripeness and finesse. The length of palate is remarkable and very, very long. This will remain in my tasting memory for a long time to come. I can't recommend this wine highly enough. Bravo.
The scarcity of this cuvee is such that it is only released in magnums.
